Today, IRCC issued 3,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to more Canadian immigration candidates in an all-program draw. IRCC’s last six Express Entry draws have now included an even number of all-program and category-based draws, which were introduced earlier this year. The September 26 draw invited eligible candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 504.
Today’s draw was an all-program round of invitations, meaning that it considered immigration candidates from all three programs contained within the Express Entry application management system – the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Below, this article will provide a recap of all Express Entry draw results between the last round of invitations issued prior to today (September 20th, 2023) and June 27 this year. June 27 is a key date because that day marked the last time IRCC conducted an all-program draw before Canada’s first-ever category-based Express Entry draw the following day (June 28).
September 20
The latest Express Entry draw before today’s round of invitations took place on September 20, when IRCC conducted its first-ever category-based draw for candidates with experience in transport occupations. This draw invited 1,000 candidates with a minimum CRS score for the September 20 draw was 435.
September 19
IRCC issued 3,200 ITAs to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 531. This was part of an all-program draw.
August
August 15: IRCC issued 4,300 ITAs in an all-program Express Entry draw. The minimum CRS score for this draw was 496.
August 3: 1,500 ITAs were issued in a category-based draw for those with work experience in the trades. The minimum CRS score for this draw was 388.
August 2: Category-based draw for candidates with French-language proficiency. 800 ITAs were issued to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 435.
August 1: 2,000 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 517 were invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.
July
July 12: IRCC invited 3,800 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 375 to apply for immigration to Canada in a French language category-based draw.
July 11: IRCC conducted an all-program draw, issuing 800 ITAs to those with a minimum CRS score of 505.
July 7: 2,300 ITAs were issued to candidates with a CRS score of at least 439 in a French language category-based draw.
July 6: 1,500 ITAs were issued to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 463 in a category-based draw for people in healthcare occupations.
July 5: 500 ITAs were issued to candidates with a CRS score of at least 486 in a STEM occupation category-based draw.
July 4: 700 ITAs were issued to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 511 in an all-program draw.
June
June 28: IRCC conducts the first-ever category-based Express Entry draw, inviting 500 immigration candidates with experience in healthcare occupations and a minimum CRS score of 476.
June 27: IRCC issued 4,300 ITAs to candidates with a CRS score of at least 486 in a standard all-program draw.
Express Entry
Express Entry is Canada’s application management system for three economic immigration programs – the FSWP, the FSTP and the CEC.
There are now two types of Express Entry draws, standard and category-based.
In a standard draw, candidates are assigned a CRS score based on a variety of human capital factors. CRS scores are used to rank candidates against each other in the Express Entry pool. At this time, when IRCC issues a round of invitations during an Express Entry draw, those with a CRS score above the cut-off score for that particular round receive an ITA.
Meanwhile, IRCC has been conducting category-based draws in addition to standard draws since June 28 this year. Intended to attract immigration candidates with specific work experience or proficiencies that align with the country’s most in-demand skills, these draws were introduced to provide aid to some of the Canadian industries with the most significant labour gaps across this country. The six new categories chosen as priorities by IRCC in 2023 are as follows:

• STEM
• Trades
• Transport
• Agriculture and agri-food
• French-language proficiency
